The red snapper is very easy to identify since its body color is red and slightly pink in the dorsal region. In young fish you can find black spots on their sides that disappear with age. Short, sharp teeth can be seen in their mouth, but they lack upper canines. Adult fish of this species can weigh up to 18 kilos.
