The leatherback turtle has a dark and smooth carapace with several crest lines distributed along its length, these turtles in their adult stage can measure from 6 to 7.2 ft in length, this species of sea turtle is also distinguished by having the finest fins. larger than the other species since being expanded they can reach up to 8.8 ft in length. Its weight varies from 550 to 1500 pounds. It also has a hooked beak with barbs pointing inward making it easy to catch prey.
